According to Bhikangaon Sub-Divisional Officer of Police Rakesh Arya, the accused identified as Sunil was arrested on Saturday for the brutal killing of his 25-year-old pregnant wife Sheela Bai. The couple had recently returned to their village after working as laborers in Maharashtra and have two young children aged three and five years.
The argument erupted when Sheela Bai informed her husband that food had already been prepared and she would cook spinach afterwards. Enraged by her response, Sunil allegedly dragged his wife approximately 200 feet into a field located behind their house and attacked her with an axe, striking her neck twice. The attack proved fatal, and Sheela Bai died on the spot.
Immediate Aftermath and Arrest
After committing the crime, Sunil went to a relative's house where he confessed to the murder. Police officials confirmed that Sunil's mother and younger brother were not present at home during the time of the incident, which likely contributed to the escalation of violence without any intervention.
