Elderly Man Fatally Attacked in Mandya Village Land Dispute
A tragic incident unfolded in Mandya district, where a 62-year-old man lost his life in a violent confrontation over a land dispute. The victim, identified as Krishnegowda, was a resident of Chikkade village in Pandavapura taluk.
Violent Altercation Escalates Quickly
According to police reports, the incident occurred on the outskirts of Chikkade village. Krishnegowda had gone to his agricultural field when a heated argument erupted with his close relatives. The dispute centered around a long-standing land issue that had plagued the families for years.
The verbal exchange soon turned physical. Three accused individuals allegedly attacked Krishnegowda with a branch from a drumstick tree. They struck him on the side of the head with the wooden club, causing him to collapse immediately. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Prolonged Hostility Leads to Tragedy
Police officials stated that the murder resulted from prolonged hostility between the families. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the dispute through village elders and informal mediation, tensions continued to simmer. The failure of these peace efforts ultimately led to the violent confrontation on Monday.

Senior police officials, including SP Shobharani and Additional Superintendent of Police Thimmaiah, visited the crime scene to assess the situation. Pandavapura police have registered a case of murder and taken the suspects into custody for further investigation.
