Man Dies After Palm Tree Cutter Attack in Kulathur Argument

A tragic incident unfolded in Aruvallur near Kulathur on Tuesday evening. A 40-year-old man lost his life after being slashed with a palm tree cutter during a heated argument. The victim, identified as Manoj, was a resident of Kunnanvila, Aruvallur in Kulathur. His native place was Vlathankara.

Altercation Turns Fatal

The argument erupted around 5 pm between Manoj and a palm tree worker named Sassidharan. Police reports indicate that Manoj was under the influence of alcohol at the time. He reportedly hit Sassidharan on the face, escalating the confrontation.

An enraged Sassidharan allegedly responded by slashing Manoj with the palm tree cutter he was carrying. The attack caused deep injuries to Manoj's leg and hand. He collapsed on the roadside immediately after the assault.

Delayed Response and Death

Locals at the scene did not intervene initially. They suspected that Manoj might already be dead. This delay meant the victim lay bleeding on the road for a considerable period.

Upon receiving an alert, Pozhiyur police rushed to the spot. They shifted Manoj to Neyyattinkara taluk hospital for medical attention. Doctors at the hospital declared him dead upon arrival.

Police Investigation and Background

Police revealed that Manoj had a criminal record. He was a history-sheeter listed in the rowdy register of Parassala police station. Authorities have registered a case against Sassidharan in connection with the attack. Further investigation is currently underway to gather more details.

Manoj is survived by his wife Shobhim and daughter Aswathi. The family now mourns his sudden and violent death.
