Garhwa: A minor argument at a wedding ceremony turned fatal after a 27-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death at Raro village in Garhwa district on Monday night, police said on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Mukesh Yadav, a resident of Sonehara village, and part of the groom's side.
Details of the Incident
Sources said the marriage party from Sondiha village had gone to Lakshman Yadav's home in Raro for the wedding ceremony. During the function, Ravindra Yadav, the groom's maternal uncle, was trying to make groom Deepak Yadav wear a pair of spectacles, who repeatedly refused.
At that point, Mukesh objected and asked why Ravindra was insisting on putting spectacles on the groom when he was refusing to wear one.
People present at the ceremony initially pacified them. However, after some time, Ravindra allegedly attacked Mukesh when he found him alone, leaving him critically injured. Villagers rushed Mukesh to Dandai hospital, but he died on the way.
Police Response
“Relatives of the deceased filed an FIR with Dhurki police station against Ravindra,” said Dhurki police station officer in-charge Janardan Raut. He added that police are investigating the matter from various aspects. A search is on to arrest the accused.
OC of Dandai police station, Animesh Shantikari, said, “A dispute among the groom's side led to the death. The postmortem examination was conducted and further investigation is underway.”
The incident has shocked the local community, and authorities are working to apprehend the suspect.
