A shocking case of sexual assault has come to light in Gurgaon, leading to the arrest of a 34-year-old man for the alleged repeated rape of a 15-year-old girl. The horrific crime was discovered only when the minor victim, a Class 7 student, delivered a baby boy at the Civil Hospital in Sector 10 earlier this week.
Accused Lived in Same Locality, Fled After Crimes
According to police, the accused has been identified as Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. He was previously living in a rented accommodation in Kadipur, the same locality as the survivor. Police stated that Kumar, who is married and works for a private firm, allegedly sexually assaulted the girl on multiple occasions between December 2024 and February 2025.
Officers revealed that the accused used threats of serious consequences to silence the minor, leaving her in a state of extreme fear. "He had repeatedly threatened the minor, leaving her too frightened to confide in anyone," a police officer involved in the investigation said. After vacating his rental home in February, Kumar fled to Delhi's Sangam Vihar area in an attempt to evade authorities.
Pregnancy Concealed, Case Emerges During Hospital Visit
The harrowing ordeal came to the forefront on Tuesday when the girl experienced severe abdominal pain. Her concerned parents immediately rushed her to the Civil Hospital in Sector 10. To their utter shock, doctors examined her and discovered she was not only pregnant but also in active labour. She gave birth to a baby boy the same day.
"Despite being pregnant, she continued attending school and was unaware of her condition until she went into labour," the investigating officer explained. Following the delivery, the hospital authorities followed protocol and alerted the police about the situation involving a minor.
Legal Action and Ongoing Investigation
Acting on a formal complaint filed by the girl's father, the Sector 10 police station registered a case under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. A dedicated police team traced the accused to his hideout in Delhi and successfully arrested him on Thursday.
Kumar was produced before a local court on Friday, which remanded him to judicial custody. The police have outlined the next crucial steps in the investigation. The survivor's statement will be officially recorded before a magistrate to ensure legal sanctity. Furthermore, DNA testing will be conducted to scientifically establish the paternity of the newborn and link it conclusively to the accused.
The victim remains under medical observation at the hospital. In line with legal provisions for such sensitive cases, the police have assured that the girl and her family will be provided with necessary counselling support through the Child Welfare Committee. The family will also receive monetary assistance as per the relevant laws.
