3-Car Pileup on Hyderabad's PVNR Expressway Causes Major Traffic Snarl
Major traffic jam on Hyderabad's PVNR Expressway after 3-car crash

A major three-car collision on Saturday morning brought the bustling PVNR Expressway in Hyderabad to a grinding halt, causing severe traffic disruptions for hours. The accident occurred near Attapur, leading to long queues of vehicles on both sides of the crucial expressway.

Details of the PVNR Expressway Collision

The pileup happened at approximately 9:15 am on Saturday near pillar number 253, close to the PVNR flyover in the direction of Mehdipatnam. According to Rajendra Nagar Station House Officer (SHO) Nagendar, the chain of events began when one car, reportedly speeding towards the airport, first struck the road divider. The impact caused it to swerve violently into the oncoming traffic lane, where it collided head-on with two other cars travelling from the opposite direction.

Injuries, Chaos, and Police Response

Fortunately, all occupants of the involved vehicles sustained only minor injuries and were confirmed to be out of danger. However, the accident triggered massive traffic congestion. Commuters, particularly those travelling from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad, were among the worst affected, with many stranded for several hours.

Police were quick to respond upon receiving information. They rushed to the scene and initiated relief and clearance operations. A crane was deployed to remove the damaged vehicles from the expressway. The injured were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and were later discharged. The Cyberabad traffic police also took to social media platform X to inform the public that their personnel were on-site managing the situation.

A Troubling Pattern on a Busy Stretch

This incident marks the second major multi-vehicle crash on this same stretch of road within a single week. On Monday night, a similar three-car collision occurred, which was initially suspected to be due to foggy conditions. The recurrence of such accidents has raised concerns about safety on this heavily used corridor.

After clearing the wreckage, traffic movement was gradually restored. The police have registered a formal case regarding Saturday's accident and are conducting further investigations to determine the exact cause.
