Major Fire Breaks Out at Under-Construction Hotel in Lucknow's Gomtinagar Area
A substantial fire erupted on Friday afternoon in the basement of an under-construction hotel building located near the Vibhuti Khand police station in the Gomtinagar area of Lucknow. The incident prompted an extensive and rapid response from the local fire department, involving multiple firefighting units and personnel.
Timeline and Emergency Response
The fire is reported to have ignited around 4:00 PM. Information regarding the blaze was swiftly communicated to the Hazratganj Fire Station control room through the ROIP (Radio Over Internet Protocol) system, enabling immediate coordination of resources.
Initial deployment saw two fire tenders dispatched from the nearby Gomtinagar Fire Station to the site. Simultaneously, the officer-in-charge of the Indiranagar Fire Station also rushed to the location to oversee operations.
Scale of Firefighting Operation
The firefighting effort escalated significantly as the situation was assessed. In total, authorities deployed a substantial force to combat the flames, including:
- Nine fire tenders
- One water bowser
Firefighters, equipped with full protective gear, entered the first basement level where the fire had originated in a storage area. The operation required intense effort due to the confined space and potential hazards.
Containment and Outcome
After nearly two and a half hours of dedicated firefighting, officials successfully managed to douse the blaze. Importantly, no casualties were reported from the incident, which is being viewed as a positive outcome given the scale of the fire.
Fire department authorities have indicated that the fire was contained to the storage area of the basement, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the under-construction structure. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by relevant authorities.
