Bikram Singh Majithia Gets Anticipatory Bail in Amritsar Police Station Case
Majithia Granted Anticipatory Bail in Amritsar Case

Amritsar: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia was granted anticipatory bail by a local court here on Monday. He is accused of tearing documents inside a police station and attempting to free his supporter, Jobanpreet Singh, from the Majitha police station.

SAD chief spokesperson Arshdeep Singh Kaler said that the case registered against Majithia in Amritsar during the Aam Aadmi Party government has once again been proven wrong. The court has granted him anticipatory bail, he added.

An FIR was registered against Majithia and others on May 31 at Majitha police station, and police had been conducting raids to arrest him.

Kaler, in a sarcastic note, said that the court decisions were based on evidence, not on statements made by a chief minister. Earlier, the CM made big claims, but now it remains to be seen what he will say, he said.

He further said the arrest of Jobanjeet Singh was termed unconstitutional and unethical by the Punjab and Haryana high court. And now, Majithia has also received relief. Majithia had gone to the police station to participate in a protest staged by Jobanpreet's family and the Kirti Kisan Union, Kaler added.
