His father expressed anguish, stating, "In the evening, he had no idea that a pit had been dug there. There were no warnings or proper barricades."
Gupta's company held the contract for the work at the site, and his arrest follows the earlier detention of two other individuals: Rajesh Kumar Prajapati, a subcontractor, and Yogesh Kumar, a laborer. Prajapati allegedly contacted Gupta shortly after the incident to report what had transpired.
