Ludhiana Teenager's Quick Thinking Prevents Carjacking Near Jalandhar Bypass
In a dramatic incident in Ludhiana, an 18-year-old youth demonstrated remarkable presence of mind to foil a carjacking attempt near the Jalandhar Bypass on Saturday evening. The event, which unfolded around the bypass area, saw the teenager successfully evade four assailants in a tense confrontation that was entirely captured on nearby CCTV cameras.
Details of the Carjacking Attempt
According to the police complaint filed by Avinash Kumar Chhabra, a scribe from Laxmi Puri in Salem Tabri, his nephew Dhruv Chhabra was driving his Kia Sonet towards Aman Nagar. Dhruv was on his way to collect a jacket from a friend in preparation for an upcoming trip to Manali. As he approached the Jalandhar Bypass Chowk, two men on a motorcycle abruptly dropped their bike directly in front of his car, blocking his path.
One of the accused immediately attempted to forcefully open the car door, but the mechanism held firm, preventing entry. Sensing the danger, Dhruv maintained his composure. During the struggle, two additional accomplices arrived at the scene, joining the initial duo in their efforts to commandeer the vehicle.
Escape and Police Response
Despite the escalating threat, Dhruv managed to drive away safely, thwarting the carjacking bid. The entire sequence was recorded by surveillance cameras installed in the vicinity, providing crucial evidence for the investigation.
Upon receiving the complaint, the Salem Tabri police station acted promptly, registering a First Information Report (FIR) against the unidentified accused. The FIR was based on Avinash Chhabra's statement, which detailed the events and expressed concerns over a possible conspiracy.
Conspiracy Allegations and Ongoing Investigation
Avinash Chhabra revealed that his family has been receiving threats from various individuals over the past several months. This history has led him to suspect that the carjacking attempt was not a random act but part of a deliberate conspiracy targeting his nephew.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Prem Chand, who is leading the investigation, confirmed that the FIR has been lodged under sections 304(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police are currently analyzing the CCTV footage to identify the men involved in the incident. Additionally, they are thoroughly investigating the conspiracy angle raised by the complainant to determine if there is any substantiated threat or premeditated plan behind the attack.
