Ludhiana Construction Shop Targeted in Daring Daylight Robbery
In a brazen incident that unfolded on Tuesday, a group of armed robbers targeted a building construction material shop located on 33 Feet Road in the Jamalpur area of Ludhiana. The criminals managed to escape with cash and a mobile phone after a dramatic confrontation with the shop owner, who briefly apprehended one of the accused.
Violent Confrontation as Owner Attempts to Foil Escape
The victim, identified as Ram Nath Gupta, a resident of the Mundian area, owns the shop along with his son, Manish Gupta. Both were present on the premises when the robbery occurred. According to Ram Nath Gupta, his son was seated at the counter, engaged in a phone conversation, when two men brandishing sharp-edged weapons forcefully entered the establishment.
The assailants swiftly snatched Manish's mobile phone and an undisclosed amount of cash from the cash drawer. As the robbers attempted to flee, Ram Nath Gupta courageously gave chase. In a statement, Gupta recounted, "I managed to catch hold of one of the accused. However, when his accomplices witnessed that he was in my grip, a third individual, who was positioned on a motorcycle, began pelting bricks at me. Seizing the opportunity created by this distraction, the captured robber broke free and escaped."
CCTV Evidence and Police Investigation Underway
Gupta confirmed that the entire alarming episode was recorded by CCTV cameras installed both inside and outside the shop premises. He has since filed a formal complaint with the local authorities. Officials from the Jamalpur police station have acknowledged the incident and confirmed that a thorough investigation has been initiated.
Law enforcement is currently examining the CCTV footage retrieved from the shop and the surrounding vicinity to identify the perpetrators and piece together the sequence of events.
