Ludhiana Police Apprehend Two Habitual Criminals in Major Bust
In a significant crackdown on crime, the Ludhiana police have successfully arrested two habitual offenders, recovering a stolen motorcycle, a country-made .315 bore pistol, and two live bullets. The operation was conducted by a dedicated police team under the leadership of ASI Karamjit Singh during a special patrol near Sua Puli Majri on April 19.
Tip-Off Leads to Interception and Arrests
The arrests were made possible after the police received a crucial tip-off, prompting them to set up a check post in the area. The accused were intercepted at this checkpoint, where they were found in possession of the stolen items. Further investigations uncovered that the duo had recently committed an armed robbery at a local shop, looting ₹1,000 in cash at gunpoint.
History of Criminal Activities Across Multiple Districts
According to police reports, both individuals are seasoned criminals with an extensive history of theft, robbery, and snatching incidents. Their criminal activities span across several districts, including Khanna, Doraha, Samrala, and parts of Ludhiana and Fatehgarh Sahib. Multiple cases are already registered against them at various police stations, such as City 1, City 2, and Sadar in Khanna.
Targeting Vulnerable Victims and Suspected Drug Links
The suspects primarily targeted shopkeepers and elderly persons, using the recovered pistol to intimidate and threaten their victims before snatching cash and mobile phones. Additionally, police suspect their involvement in drug abuse and the illicit sale of stolen property, adding another layer to their criminal profile.
Recovery of Stolen Motorcycle and Legal Proceedings
During interrogation, it was revealed that the seized motorcycle had been snatched from Sahnewal. The police have formally registered a case against the accused and obtained a court remand to facilitate further interrogation and gather more evidence. This arrest marks a crucial step in curbing organized crime in the region, with authorities continuing their efforts to dismantle such networks.
