Ludhiana: The Division Number 8 police arrested four drug addicts on Wednesday on charges of robbing national-level judo player Aman Sharma on June 7. The suspects, identified as Karan, Teerath Singh, Akash Kumar, and Rohan Kumar, are said to have attacked Sharma near Guru Nanak Stadium, fracturing his finger and forcing him to miss the national championship in Chandigarh.

According to police officials, the gang of repeat offenders was intercepted while reportedly seeking new victims. During the operation, authorities recovered Sharma’s stolen motorcycle, along with an additional bike and two knives that were used in the assault. The police have registered a case against the four individuals under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

The incident highlights the growing concern over drug addiction and its link to criminal activities in the city. The accused are believed to have been under the influence of substances at the time of the robbery. The police have assured that a thorough investigation is underway to ensure that justice is served.
