Ludhiana Murder Probe: Man Chopped, Injected Before Death in Drum
Ludhiana man injected, chopped, found in drum: Probe

In a gruesome revelation from Ludhiana, a detailed police investigation has uncovered the horrifying sequence of events leading to the murder of a 32-year-old man, whose dismembered body was discovered stuffed inside a plastic drum. The probe indicates the victim was first injected with a substance, likely a sedative, before being killed and chopped into pieces.

Chilling Discovery in Industrial Area

The case came to light on February 23 when authorities recovered a blue plastic drum from a sewerage treatment plant located in the city's Dhandari Kalan area. Upon opening the drum, police found the mutilated body parts of Manpreet Singh, alias Mani, a resident of Shimlapuri. The initial recovery included the torso and limbs. A subsequent search led to the discovery of the victim's head in the same treatment plant a day later, on February 24.

The investigation, led by the Ludhiana Police Commissionerate, quickly turned into a complex murder probe. Forensic analysis and post-mortem reports have been pivotal in piecing together the crime's timeline. Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, Kuldeep Singh Chahal, confirmed the critical finding: "The viscera report confirmed the presence of a drug. It suggests he was first injected, which made him unconscious, and then murdered."

Police Theory and Ongoing Investigation

Based on evidence collected so far, the police have constructed a probable theory. They believe Manpreet Singh was first rendered helpless by an injection. Once unconscious, he was murdered, and his body was subsequently chopped into several pieces to facilitate disposal. The perpetrators then transported the remains in the plastic drum to the isolated sewerage treatment plant to avoid detection.

The police are actively pursuing several leads and are investigating the victim's personal and professional connections to establish a motive. While the primary focus is on personal enmity, all angles are being thoroughly examined. No arrests have been made public yet, but officials have expressed confidence in cracking the case soon based on the forensic and technical evidence gathered.

A City on Edge

The brutality of the crime has sent shockwaves through the industrial city of Ludhiana. The method of killing and the cold-blooded disposal of the body have raised serious concerns among residents. The police have assured the public that all resources are being deployed to apprehend the culprits swiftly. The case underscores the challenges faced by law enforcement in tackling heinous crimes and the increasing reliance on forensic science to solve them.

As the investigation continues, the Ludhiana Police are urging anyone with information to come forward. The force is meticulously analyzing call detail records (CDRs), CCTV footage from around the crime scene, and conducting extensive questioning to close in on the suspects responsible for this barbaric act.
