Ludhiana Police Apprehend Driver Following Dramatic Chase and Collision in Jagraon
In a late-night incident that caused significant alarm among local residents, the Ludhiana rural police have arrested an individual for rash and negligent driving after a high-speed chase culminated in a crash in Jagraon. The event unfolded on Saturday night, leaving a trail of damage and panic in the Adda Raikot area.
Details of the Arrest and Incident
The accused has been identified as Dilpreet Singh, a resident of Kaunke colony in Jagraon. According to police reports, a team from the Sadar Jagraon police station had established a checkpoint near Kothe Pona, strategically positioned ahead of a petrol pump. When officers signaled a Swift Dzire to stop, the driver, later confirmed to be Dilpreet Singh, disregarded the directive and accelerated towards Raikot Road.
A pursuit ensued, with police vehicles trailing the speeding car. During the chase, the driver lost control of the vehicle near Adda Raikot. The car first rammed into the raised platforms outside several roadside shops, causing one of its tyres to burst. It then collided with a small goods carrier, commonly known as a tempo, before finally coming to a halt.
Extensive Damage and Police Response
Local sources described the aftermath as chaotic, with the car sustaining severe damage. The front bumper, right tyre, windshield, and driver-side portion were all badly compromised due to the impact. Police officers swiftly apprehended Dilpreet Singh at the scene, preventing any further escalation.
SHO of Sadar Jagraon police station, Inspector Surjit Singh, confirmed that a formal case has been registered against the accused under charges of rash and negligent driving. He emphasized that the investigation is actively progressing to uncover all aspects of the incident.

Inspector Surjit Singh provided crucial insights from the preliminary investigation. Police did not recover any illegal substances or items from the accused, and it was determined that he was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. Additionally, a police officer noted that there were three individuals in the car during the incident, but fortunately, none sustained any injuries.
The vehicle involved in the crash has been taken into police custody as part of the ongoing probe. The incident, occurring during late-night hours, sparked considerable panic among shopkeepers and residents in the vicinity, highlighting the dangers of reckless driving in populated areas.
