Lucknow property dealer booked for land grab, casteist threats

Lucknow: Indiranagar Police Station on Tuesday registered an FIR against a local property dealer and his unidentified associates for allegedly attempting to illegally seize land belonging to a Scheduled Caste man and issuing death threats laced with casteist slurs.

The victim, Avsheesh Kumar alias Bauwa, 36, a resident of Rasulpur Saadat, alleged a long-standing conspiracy involving his ancestral property. According to the FIR, the dispute pertains to the ownership of the land, recorded in his family's name, in village Rasulpur Saadat, Bakshi Ka Talab.

Kumar alleged that property dealer Mohan Yadav exploited his family's lack of formal education to execute fraudulent sale deeds. He claimed that forged documents, including a 'rectification deed' prepared in 2012, were used to manipulate land records by changing plot numbers from 712 to 239 to facilitate an illegal takeover.

The situation escalated on September 4, 2025, when the main accused, Ratan Lalwani, allegedly reached the site with two unidentified accomplices. The complainant alleged that Lalwani used casteist slurs and threatened to 'bury the family alive' if they did not give up their claim. A scuffle broke out when Kumar resisted the alleged encroachment.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Anindya Vikram Singh said that an investigation is underway. The police are examining the documents and gathering evidence to verify the allegations. Further action will be taken based on the findings.
