In a remarkable display of presence of mind and efficient coordination, police officers in Lucknow successfully saved the life of a woman who had allegedly consumed a poisonous substance. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning in the Para area, where timely intervention proved to be the difference between life and death.
Critical Alert and Immediate Response
According to officials, the police control room received an urgent alert around 10:30 am on Wednesday. The alert stated that a woman was lying unconscious by the roadside near a residential colony, with froth emanating from her mouth. A police team immediately rushed to the reported spot and found the woman in a critical condition, requiring urgent medical attention.
On-the-Spot Decision Saves Precious Time
Faced with a life-threatening situation, the officers made a crucial judgment call. Suresh Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Para police station, explained that waiting for a formal ambulance could have led to a fatal delay. Taking charge of the situation, the officer in charge decided to transport the woman to the nearest hospital using a private vehicle. A woman constable assisted in this effort, providing necessary support during the frantic rush.
Anticipating potential delays due to traffic congestion at busy crossings, the team did not rely on luck. They simultaneously alerted the traffic police control room, requesting a green corridor to ensure a clear and swift passage for the vehicle carrying the patient.
Seamless Coordination Ensures Clear Route
The call for help triggered an instant and coordinated response. Personnel from the traffic police and nearby police stations worked in unison to manage and clear the designated route. The private vehicle was effectively escorted through the city's traffic, allowing it to reach Lok Bandhu Hospital without any significant delay. This seamless inter-departmental coordination was pivotal in racing against time.
At the hospital, doctors were prepared and promptly administered emergency treatment to the woman. Their swift medical response stabilized her condition. SHO Suresh Singh later confirmed that the doctors, after providing the necessary care, declared the woman out of danger. The combined efforts of the police, traffic personnel, and medical staff thus averted a potential tragedy in Lucknow.
