LUCKNOW: A 42-year-old woman was strangled in front of her eight-year-old daughter, allegedly by her live-in partner, in the Thakurganj area. The accused fled after committing the crime, police said.
According to reports, the woman lived in a makeshift hut on a vacant plot near Lala Bagh along Ring Road, along with her live-in partner and her daughter. Her body was discovered early Saturday morning.
Police and family members revealed that the woman had separated from her husband about four months ago and had since been living with her live-in partner. Her brother informed the police about the death around 3:30 am.
The victim's daughter told investigators that her mother was asleep after dinner when the accused allegedly strangled her. He told the child he was going to get medicine but never returned. Later, the girl found her mother dead.
Police said no external injury marks were found on the body. A forensic team has collected evidence and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
