Massive Fire Engulfs Lucknow Apartment, Family and Pet Dog Rescued in Dramatic Operation
A family of five had a harrowing narrow escape after a massive fire erupted in a three-storey apartment in Lucknow's Sarojininagar area during the early hours of Thursday. The blaze, suspected to be caused by a short circuit, triggered a high-risk rescue mission that saved all occupants and even a beloved pet dog.
Panic and Injury as Flames Intensify
The terrifying incident unfolded around 3:45am at the Parth Republic apartment located in Daroga Kheda on Kanpur road. As flames rapidly spread through the building, panic ensued among the residents. In a desperate bid to escape, a 22-year-old woman identified as Tannu Kashyap jumped from the second floor, sustaining injuries in the process. She was promptly rushed to medical care and is reported to be out of danger.
Heroic Rescue Efforts by Fire and Police Teams
Police and fire department teams, led by Sarojini Nagar fire station officer Dharmapal Singh and inspector Rajdev Prajapati, swiftly arrived at the scene. Firefighters immediately deployed three fire tenders and launched a complex rescue operation. The building belongs to real estate businessman Ajay Rastogi, also known as Shashi Verma, who resides on the second floor with his wife Anita, daughter Sheetal, son Vinayak, and granddaughter Viranika. Tannu Kashyap, his niece, was also present during the incident.
As the fire continued to intensify, additional resources were mobilized. A hydraulic platform from the Hazratganj fire station was pressed into service under the direct supervision of Chief Fire Officer Ankush Mittal. The operation became even more critical when the family's children pleaded with rescuers to save their pet dog, which was trapped inside the burning structure.
Emotional Appeal Leads to Daring Pet Rescue
Responding to the emotional distress of the children, Fire Station Officer Dharmapal Singh demonstrated exceptional bravery. He donned a breathing apparatus set and entered the smoke-filled, dangerous building to locate and rescue the stranded pet dog. This act highlighted the comprehensive nature of the rescue mission, ensuring no life was left behind.
Investigation Underway into Suspected Short Circuit
Chief Fire Officer Ankush Mittal stated that the fire is preliminarily suspected to have originated from a short circuit, though the exact cause will be confirmed following a thorough investigation. He emphasized that all occupants were rescued safely, thanks to the coordinated efforts of the emergency response teams. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of electrical safety in residential buildings.
The successful rescue operation, which involved multiple agencies and advanced equipment, prevented what could have been a tragic outcome.
