Lucknow Woman Files FIR Over Blackmail and Theft of Wedding Jewellery Worth Rs 15 Lakh
A shocking case of blackmail and theft has emerged from Lucknow, where a resident of Jankipuram has filed a formal police complaint against a close relative. The incident, which came to light on Saturday, involves allegations of secret video recording and the extortion of wedding jewellery valued at approximately Rs 15 lakh.
Details of the Alleged Blackmail Scheme
According to the FIR lodged with the Gudamba police, the complainant alleges that her husband's cousin secretly recorded a video of her while she was bathing. The accused then reportedly sent objectionable photographs and videos to her husband's mobile phone, causing severe domestic discord and emotional trauma for the woman.
The situation escalated when the accused, after creating a rift between the couple, offered to resolve the dispute with her husband. Under this false pretext, he allegedly convinced the woman to hand over her wedding jewellery, claiming he would keep it safe until the matter was settled.
Failed Promises and Further Threats
When the woman later demanded the return of her ornaments, the accused allegedly refused and instead threatened to circulate the obscene videos and images further to damage her reputation. In a twist, the accused later executed a written agreement through his lawyer, promising to return the jewellery within three days, but failed to follow through on this commitment.
Senior police officials have confirmed the registration of the FIR. SHO Prabhatesh Srivastava of Gudamba police station stated that an investigation is currently underway to probe the serious allegations and gather evidence in this distressing case.
This incident highlights the vulnerabilities individuals can face within family circles and underscores the importance of legal recourse in such sensitive matters. The police are urging anyone with similar experiences to come forward and report such crimes promptly.
