Tragic Electric Shock Claims Life of Labourer at MLA Event in Hisar
A devastating incident unfolded in Kharbala village of Hansi district, Hisar, on Saturday, resulting in the untimely death of a 35-year-old labourer. The victim, identified as Amitabh, a resident of Lon village in Narwana, suffered a fatal electric shock while setting up a sound system for a public programme. The event was scheduled to be attended by Narnaund MLA Jassi Petwar as the chief guest, marking Karpoori Thakur Jayanti celebrations.
Details of the Fatal Accident
According to eyewitness accounts, Amitabh was actively involved in installing sound equipment at the venue when he accidentally came into contact with a live electric wire. This unfortunate mishap led to a severe electric shock, causing serious burn injuries. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries on the spot, leaving the local community in shock and mourning.
Amitabh, who had been residing in a rented house near Char Qutub Gate in Hansi for some time, was known to be a hardworking individual. Colleagues revealed that he juggled multiple jobs to make ends meet, working as a daily-wage labourer, driving an auto-rickshaw, and undertaking sound system assignments. On the day of the incident, he had transported the sound equipment to the venue using his auto-rickshaw, highlighting his dedication and resourcefulness.
Family and Aftermath
The deceased was the sole breadwinner for his family, leaving behind a grieving wife and three children—two daughters and a son. His sudden demise has plunged the family into financial uncertainty and emotional distress, underscoring the precarious nature of daily-wage employment in the region.
Upon receiving information about the accident, police authorities swiftly responded to the scene. Investigating officer ASI Rajesh confirmed that the police reached the spot immediately and took the body into custody. It was subsequently shifted to the mortuary of Hansi General Hospital for further procedures.
Legal proceedings are now underway, with authorities recording statements from family members and witnesses to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the tragic event. The incident has raised concerns about safety protocols at public events, especially those involving electrical setups in rural areas.
This heartbreaking occurrence serves as a stark reminder of the risks faced by labourers in their daily work and the urgent need for enhanced safety measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
