Kolkata woman files police complaint over photo blackmail

A woman residing in South Kolkata has filed a serious police complaint against a man from Purulia, accusing him of a disturbing campaign of blackmail and harassment involving her private photographs. The accused, identified as Sushovan Tewary, a resident of Raghunathpur in Purulia, allegedly used illicitly captured images to extort sexual favours and money from the victim.

Details of the Alleged Harassment and Blackmail

The complainant stated that the incident unfolded between December 14 and December 16. During this period, while she was attending a function in Kolkata, Tewary along with an associate reportedly took objectionable pictures of her without her knowledge or consent. Subsequently, the accused used these private photographs as a tool for blackmail.

The woman alleged that Tewary threatened to publicly expose the images unless she complied with his demands for sexual favours. He did not stop there and also demanded money from her. The threats escalated further, with the accused allegedly menacing her with prospects of human trafficking and forcing her into pornography.

Living in constant fear for her safety and dignity, the victim decided to approach the authorities. She formally registered her complaint at the Bansdroni Police Station in Kolkata, seeking legal action against Sushovan Tewary and his associate. The police are now investigating the allegations of cyber harassment, blackmail, and criminal intimidation.
