According to her report, an unknown individual broke open an almirah and stole cash and gold ornaments with a total value of Rs 10 lakh. Khatoon specifically alleged that her current domestic help had the maximum access to this almirah, raising suspicions.

The detailed complaint reveals that the stolen cash amounted to Rs 5,24,000. The missing gold ornaments included:

  • One gold hand ring
  • Two pairs of gold earrings weighing approximately 12 grams
  • Two additional earrings weighing about 9 grams

Police authorities confirmed that the role of two servants is being examined alongside some local burglars. As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made in connection with this case.

Watgunge Godown Theft: Goods and Car Worth Rs 12.6 Lakh Missing

In a separate but related incident in Watgunge, garment trader Md Shams reported a theft from his godown located at Mansatala Row in Kidderpore. The stolen goods are valued at approximately Rs 12.6 lakh. Additionally, Shams' car, which was parked outside the premises, was also stolen during the incident.

Shams informed police that the prime accused, who worked under him and stayed at the godown for supervision purposes, was present at the location even the following morning. This detail has intensified the investigation into potential insider involvement.

Police Investigation and Community Impact

The Port division police are actively investigating both cases, with a strong focus on the domestic help in the Ekbalpore incident and the employee in the Watgunge godown theft. The combined financial impact of over Rs 28 lakh has raised concerns about security measures in residential and commercial areas within the division.

Local residents and business owners are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to authorities. The police have assured that all possible angles are being explored to identify and apprehend the perpetrators responsible for these significant losses.
