Kolhapur: An 18-year-old Std XII student from Kolhapur died after being crushed under an 18-wheeler truck on the Nagpur-Ratnagiri National Highway near Kalambi village on Thursday night, while returning home on a two-wheeler with his father after appearing for CET in Solapur.

The Miraj police identified the deceased as Hariprasad Santaji Chavan, a resident of Khari Corner in Varuntirth Ves, Kolhapur. His father, Santaji Shilwant Chavan (48), a constable posted at the Laxmipuri police station, suffered serious injuries in the accident and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kolhapur, an officer said.
