Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Anandapur, Kamal Lochan Panda, provided comprehensive details on the case during a news conference held on Wednesday afternoon. According to SDPO Panda, a special police team was formed under the direct instructions of Keonjhar Superintendent of Police Nitin Kushalkar. This team included officers from all police stations within the Anandpur sub-division, ensuring a coordinated and thorough investigation.

The operation commenced with the arrest of two marijuana traders from the Ramachandrapur police station. Based on crucial information obtained from these initial arrests, the police subsequently apprehended 17 additional individuals from various locations across the Anandpur sub-division. This strategic approach highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing in dismantling smuggling networks.

Seizures and Legal Proceedings

During extensive raid and search operations conducted at multiple sites, the police team made a significant seizure from Belabahali village under the Ghasipura police station. Here, they confiscated a car loaded with marijuana and arrested one accused. In total, the operation led to the recovery of 10 quintals of ganja, two cars, two bikes, and Rs 12,000 in cash.

All the arrested individuals have been sent to judicial custody following mandatory medical examinations, as confirmed by SDPO Kamal Lochan Panda. He emphasized that strict actions against drug smuggling will continue in the coming days, with police issuing stern warnings to those involved in such illicit activities.
