A joyous wedding celebration in Uttar Pradesh's Kasganj district descended into unimaginable horror in the early hours of Thursday, after a minor argument over loud music escalated into a fatal car rampage, leaving three people dead and two injured.
The Dispute That Sparked Tragedy
The incident occurred around 3 am on Thursday at a guest house located under the jurisdiction of the Ganj Dudwara police station. The wedding function was for a local Samajwadi Party leader. According to eyewitness Balveer Singh, the ceremonies were underway when a disagreement erupted. Kaushal Yadav, 28, from Etah, a relative of the groom, protested after elders at the event decided to shut down the DJ music as it was getting late.
What began as a verbal altercation quickly intensified. An enraged Kaushal Yadav stormed out of the venue. In a bid to calm him, five individuals from the groom's side followed him outside the guest house. However, their attempts at pacification failed catastrophically.
A Fit of Rage on Wheels
In what eyewitnesses describe as a sudden fit of uncontrollable rage, Kaushal rushed to his vehicle. Police officials later confirmed that Kaushal used to operate a cab and had arrived at the wedding in the same car. He ignited the engine, stepped on the accelerator, and deliberately plowed the car into the five men standing outside.
The horror did not end there. In a brutal act, he then reversed the vehicle and ran over the victims repeatedly, ensuring maximum damage. The scene outside the wedding venue turned from celebration to carnage in moments.
Fatal Consequences and Police Response
The victims, who were actively involved in agricultural activities, suffered critical injuries. They were identified as the groom's uncles: 55-year-old Suresh Chandra, 50-year-old Girish Chandra, and 42-year-old Brijesh Singh. All three were rushed to a hospital in Kasganj, where Brijesh Singh succumbed to his injuries.
The condition of the other two was so grave that they were referred to the higher medical facility at Aligarh Medical College. Tragically, both Suresh and Girish were also declared dead upon arrival or during treatment. The two other injured individuals are reportedly receiving medical care.
Ganj Dudwara Station House Officer (SHO) Bhojraj Awasthi provided details about the accused and the victims. Meanwhile, DSP Sandeep Varma stated that while legal proceedings are underway, the police are yet to receive a formal complaint from the grieving family. The investigation is active as authorities piece together the final sequence of events.
This shocking incident underscores how a momentary loss of control can lead to irreversible tragedy, turning a family's happy occasion into a scene of profound mourning and legal reckoning.
