Kanpur School Scandal: 4 Teachers, Manager Booked for Harassing Class II Child Over Pen
Kanpur: Teachers booked for mental harassment of Class II child

A distressing incident of alleged mental harassment of a young student has rocked a private institute in Kanpur, leading to a formal police case. A mother has accused four teachers and the school manager of severely traumatizing her Class II child by falsely accusing him of stealing a pen and then publicly shaming him.

The Allegations: A Pen, A Video, and A Traumatized Child

The controversy centers around an event that reportedly took place on November 28. According to the complaint filed by the aggrieved mother, her son's class teacher, along with three other educators, accused the boy of stealing a pen. The situation escalated when the teachers, in the presence of the school manager, allegedly made a video of the child while harassing him over the accusation.

The parents maintain a crucial point in their defense: their child was not even present at the school on November 28. The matter came to a head on December 12, when the teachers called the parents to complain about the child. When the family demanded to see the CCTV footage that would substantiate the theft claim, the school administration failed to produce any such evidence.

Police Intervention and School's Response

Exhausted by the school's handling of the situation and concerned about her son's deteriorating mental state, the mother filed a formal complaint at the police station on Monday. SHO Pradeep Kumar Singh confirmed that the accused school manager and the teachers were summoned for questioning.

"A case has been registered based on the complaint filed by the child's mother. The matter is under investigation," stated SHO Singh. The mother revealed that when she initially approached the school about the incident, the manager's proposed solution was merely to compensate for the cost of the pen, an offer that did not address the psychological harm inflicted on the boy.

Fallout and Ongoing Stress

The most significant impact of this episode has been on the young student's well-being. His mother claims that the child has been under severe stress since the day of the alleged harassment. The incident raises serious questions about the protocols followed by educational institutions when dealing with sensitive matters involving very young children.

The police investigation is now ongoing, with authorities examining the claims from both sides. The case has highlighted the need for stricter guidelines and sensitivity training in schools to prevent the mental harassment of students and ensure proper evidence is gathered before levelling serious accusations against children.
