Kanpur Man Murders Wife, Son, Arrested After Chase

Police in Kanpur arrested a man late on Monday after a dramatic chase. The suspect, Surendra Yadav, allegedly murdered his wife and young son just one day earlier.

Drunken Argument Turns Deadly

Surendra Yadav, who also goes by the alias Swami, is thirty-five years old. He works as a cleaner on trucks. He married Ruby, aged thirty-two, in 2021. She originally came from Gaura Churiyara village in Fatehpur district.

The tragic incident unfolded on Sunday night. Surendra returned to his home in Sadrepur village while heavily intoxicated. His wife Ruby objected to his drunken state. This led to a heated argument between the couple.

A Sickle and Multiple Blows

During the fight, Surendra became enraged. He grabbed a sickle. In his fury, he struck his wife Ruby on the neck with the sharp tool. This fatal blow killed her instantly.

His violence did not stop there. He then turned on his own son. The child was only two and a half years old. Surendra attacked the toddler's head multiple times. The little boy also died from these brutal injuries.

Neighbors Hear Commotion, Then Leave

Loud noises from the house alerted neighbors. They rushed to the scene to investigate. However, when they arrived, Surendra locked the door from inside.

The neighbors assumed it was just another marital dispute. They thought the couple would calm down on their own. Believing this, they left the premises and returned to their homes.

Discovery and Escape

Once the coast was clear, Surendra made his escape. He fled the village, leaving the bodies behind.

Later that same night, Surendra's brother came home. He made a horrifying discovery. He found the bodies of Ruby and the young boy. Both were covered in blood. Shocked, he immediately contacted the police.

Police Launch Manhunt and Arrest

Law enforcement officials quickly launched an investigation. They identified Surendra Yadav as the prime suspect. A search operation began to locate him.

The chase ended near the Gopalpur railway crossing. Inspector Dinesh Singh Bisht led the team that captured Surendra. The arrest took place after a pursuit by police officers.

Ghatampur ACP Krishnakant Yadav confirmed the details. He stated that murder suspect Surendra Yadav, also known as Swami, is now in custody. The police case is progressing as they gather further evidence.
