Kanpur Locals Foil Horrific Kidnapping Attempt, Rescue Child from Sack
In a disturbing incident that unfolded in Kanpur's Panki area, a woman allegedly attempted to kidnap a young girl by stuffing the child into a sack. The brazen act was thwarted thanks to the swift and courageous intervention of alert local residents, who not only saved the child but also apprehended the suspect.
Timely Intervention Prevents Tragedy
The incident occurred on Saturday evening near the Kachchi Basti, close to the Panchmukhi Hanuman Mandir in Panki. According to reports, the woman was in the process of leaving the scene after placing the child inside the sack when nearby individuals heard the distressed cries of the little girl.
Their immediate response was crucial: they stopped the woman, who then attempted to flee. However, the determined locals gave chase, successfully catching her. Upon opening the sack, they discovered a terrified 3.5-year-old girl crying inside. The child was promptly and safely reunited with her grateful parents.
Police Investigation Underway
The accused woman has been identified as Kunka, wife of Safi Ahmad, a resident of Arya Nagar in Gonda district. She has been handed over to the police and is currently undergoing intensive interrogation.
Panki inspector Manoj Bhadauria confirmed that the woman is being questioned to uncover her motives. "We are interrogating the accused to determine why she kidnapped the child, whether she was acting alone in Kanpur, or if there is a larger gang operating behind this crime," he stated.
As of now, no formal complaint has been registered, but the investigation is actively progressing to ensure all aspects of this alarming case are thoroughly examined.
