History-Sheeter Assaults Constable in Kanpur Extortion Bid, Vehicle Vandalized
In a shocking incident in Kanpur, a notorious history-sheeter allegedly stopped a constable returning from prayers, demanded extortion money, assaulted him, and vandalized the vehicle he was traveling in, according to police reports. The constable was ultimately rescued after Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) personnel intervened, leading to the arrest of the accused.
Details of the Assault and Extortion Demand
The constable, identified as Arsh Malik, a resident of Kurirwana village in Moradabad's Thana Chajlet area, is posted at Mahaula Jail in Etawah. On Tuesday night, he was returning in the jailer's car after offering prayers at Raza Masjid in the city. As the vehicle reached Kunaira turn, a car blocked its path.
The man in the car, who introduced himself as Sikandar Yadav, immediately demanded extortion money. When Constable Malik refused to pay and identified himself as a jail employee, the accused allegedly became enraged. He hurled abuses and proceeded to vandalize the car, breaking its windows and causing severe damage to the vehicle.
Violent Escalation and Rescue by PAC Personnel
The situation escalated violently as the accused pulled Constable Malik out of the car, chased him, and beat him on the road, resulting in serious injuries. Fortunately, PAC personnel passing through the area intervened and rescued the injured constable. Police noted that the accused continued his aggressive behavior even after the intervention, highlighting the severity of the attack.
Upon being informed, local police reached the spot and took Constable Malik to a safe location. Based on a formal complaint filed by the victim, a case was registered under multiple sections, including extortion, assault, intimidation, and vandalism.
Arrest and Criminal Background of the Accused
Station in-charge Amit Mishra confirmed that the accused, Sikandar Yadav, was arrested and subsequently sent to jail. Mishra revealed that Yadav is a history-sheeter with a total of 16 criminal cases registered against him, spanning charges such as assault, robbery, and intimidation. This extensive criminal record underscores the dangerous nature of the individual involved in this incident.
The case has drawn attention to the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement personnel in dealing with repeat offenders. Authorities are continuing their investigation to ensure justice is served and to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
