Jhansi: Man Kills Lover, Burns Body in Blue Trunk

Jhansi Shocked by Gruesome Murder and Body Burning Case

In a chilling incident that echoes a previous crime in Meerut, a retired railway employee in Jhansi killed a woman and burned her body inside a blue trunk. The horrific act came to light late Saturday night when a loader driver alerted the police.

Accused Had Multiple Relationships

Police identified the accused as Ram Singh, a 62-year-old former railway worker. He maintained relationships with three women simultaneously. His wife lives in Nandanpura, Jhansi, while a mistress resides near the city kotwali. Ram Singh later developed a relationship with a third woman, Preeti, who was 32 years old.

Preeti, though married and living with her husband near ITI, frequently stayed with Ram Singh in a rented house in Lehar Gaon under Sipri Bazar police station. This arrangement set the stage for the tragic events that followed.

Murder Over Financial Demands

According to Ram Singh's mistress, he became increasingly frustrated with Preeti's constant demands for money. This tension culminated in violence approximately one week ago. Ram Singh allegedly killed Preeti inside the rented house in Lehar Gaon.

After the murder, he enlisted the help of his 16-year-old son to burn the body. They placed the remains inside a large blue trunk that Ram Singh had purchased specifically for this purpose. The pair used a clay stove, wood, and coal to carry out the gruesome task.

Failed Disposal Attempt Leads to Discovery

Late on Saturday, Ram Singh decided to dispose of the trunk containing the burned remains. He hired a loader and instructed the driver to transport the trunk toward Civil Hospital. Ram Singh followed the loader on his own vehicle.

Midway through the journey, Ram Singh suddenly disappeared. The loader driver grew suspicious and immediately contacted the police. Officers responded promptly and examined the blue trunk.

Police Investigation Uncovers Evidence

Inside the trunk, police found ash, charcoal pieces, and small fragments of burnt bones. A forensic team collected samples for further analysis. Investigators then proceeded to the rented house in Lehar Gaon.

At the crime scene, they discovered a clay stove along with wood and coal that were likely used in the burning process. A blue drum was also found inside the house, adding to the evidence.

Official Statements and Arrest

Circle Officer (City) Laxmikant Gautam provided details about the case. He stated that Ram Singh's mistress reported the accused had confessed to killing Preeti due to her persistent financial demands. "The body had completely turned into ashes, except for a few parts of the bones," Gautam noted.

Police also suspect the 16-year-old son assisted his father in disposing of the body. Authorities registered a murder case against Ram Singh, who initially fled the scene. Multiple police teams worked to locate and apprehend him.

SP (City) Priti Singh confirmed that police arrested Ram Singh on Sunday evening. She added, "He was having an affair with the victim for the past ten years." The arrest brings some closure to a case that has shocked the Jhansi community.

Investigations continue as authorities piece together the full sequence of events. The case highlights the dangers of complex personal relationships and financial disputes turning violent.
