Jalna Police Crack Murder Case Within 24 Hours After Gruesome Discovery
In a swift and decisive operation, the Mantha police in Jalna district have successfully solved a chilling murder case within just 24 hours. The breakthrough came after the body of an unidentified young man was discovered floating in a water supply well at Pewa village in Mantha taluka. Authorities confirmed the details on Saturday, highlighting the rapid response and investigative prowess of the local police force.
Discovery of the Body and Initial Investigation
The police received a critical tip-off about a male body seen floating in the Pewa gram panchayat water supply well. A dedicated police team immediately rushed to the scene. With the assistance of local residents, they managed to retrieve the body from the well. The deceased, estimated to be between 20 and 25 years old, was found wearing a white t-shirt. Shockingly, his hands and legs were tightly bound with a rope, and a heavy stone was tied near his abdomen, clearly indicating a deliberate attempt to weigh down the body and conceal the crime.
Prima facie, the police suspected a premeditated murder with an intent to destroy evidence. Based on a formal complaint lodged by the police patil of Pewa, the Mantha police officially registered a case of murder against unknown persons on Thursday. This set the stage for an intensive investigation.
Swift Police Action and Identification of the Victim
Jalna Superintendent of Police Ajaykumar Bansal emphasized the gravity of the situation. "The manner in which the body was bound and dumped in the well clearly indicated a pre-planned murder," he stated. "The Mantha police team acted swiftly and used a combination of technical and human intelligence to identify the victim and track down the accused within 24 hours."
Through diligent efforts, the police established the identity of the deceased as Atharva Lokhande, a 20-year-old resident of Markal village in Khed taluka of Pune. This crucial identification paved the way for further leads in the case.
Arrest of the Prime Accused and Confession
Acting on the gathered intelligence, the police detained the prime accused, identified as Kisan, also known as Krishna Dhoje. Dhoje, a 35-year-old driver by profession, is originally from Adgaon Tanda in Jintur taluka of Parbhani district and currently resides in Kaljewadi, Haveli taluka, Pune.
Mantha Inspector Manojkumar Rathod revealed that the accused confessed during interrogation. "The accused lured the victim on the pretext of paying him Rs 10 lakh related to a monetary transaction," Rathod explained. "He, along with two relatives, brought Lokhande in a car to the Pewa area, strangled him with a rope inside the vehicle, and later dumped the body in the well to destroy evidence."
Ongoing Investigation and Further Developments
In addition to the prime accused, the police have detained a second suspect from Karnataka. Efforts are currently underway to apprehend the remaining accused involved in this heinous crime. The investigation is being meticulously carried out by Sub-Inspector Santosh Malge, who is overseeing all aspects of the case to ensure justice is served.
This rapid resolution underscores the effectiveness of the Jalna police's investigative strategies and their commitment to maintaining law and order in the region. The community has expressed relief at the swift action, though the tragic loss of a young life remains a somber reminder of the challenges faced by law enforcement.
