In a bold late-night burglary, a thief made off with jewellery and cash worth over Rs 50 lakh from the locked residence of a businessman in a posh Jaipur locality. The incident has sent shockwaves through the Karni Vihar area, with police launching a major investigation to nab the culprit.
Wedding Absence Provides Thief an Opportunity
The targeted house belongs to a 61-year-old grain factory owner residing in Vaishali State Extension, Gandhi Path. According to police details, the family had left their home on the night of November 30 to attend a wedding ceremony. Seizing this opportunity, the intruder broke the lock of the main gate and entered the vacant property.
Once inside, the thief headed straight for the cupboards, ransacking multiple rooms in search of valuables. The stolen items include jewellery valued at approximately Rs 50 lakh, along with Rs 2.5 lakh in cash and several other precious articles. The scale of the theft suggests the thief was specifically looking for high-value items.
Discovery and Police Response
The crime came to light when the family returned home later that same night. They were greeted by the sight of broken locks and their belongings scattered across the rooms. The businessman promptly reported the burglary to the Karni Vihar police station.
A police team swiftly arrived at the scene to conduct a forensic examination and collect evidence. Crucially, the house was equipped with CCTV cameras, which captured clear footage of the thief. The recordings show the suspect entering the property, moving through the rooms, and eventually fleeing with the stolen goods.
Investigation Points to a Planned Crime
Investigators believe this was not a random act but a well-planned burglary. The thief struck soon after confirming the family was away, indicating possible surveillance. Police are exploring several angles, including whether the culprit had prior information about the family's movements or knowledge of the valuables kept inside the house.
The current investigation involves multiple strands:
- Technical surveillance and detailed analysis of the captured CCTV footage.
- Scanning nearby CCTV networks to map the thief's entry and escape route from the area.
- A widespread search operation to trace the suspect based on the collected evidence.
Authorities have registered a formal case, and the probe is actively ongoing. The police are confident that the electronic evidence will play a key role in identifying and apprehending the burglar responsible for this high-value heist in Jaipur.
