Jaipur Police Finalize Chargesheet in Tragic School Death Case
Nearly four months after the heartbreaking incident that claimed the life of nine-year-old Amaira Kumar, Jaipur police have completed their investigation and prepared a formal chargesheet. The young Class IV student fell to her death from the fourth floor of the prestigious Neerja Modi School in Mansarovar on November 1 last year, sparking widespread outrage and demands for accountability.
Management and Staff Named in Legal Document
Police authorities have confirmed that the chargesheet specifically names three members of the school's senior management and teaching staff. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Rajarshi Raj Varma stated that the finalized document will be submitted to court imminently, marking a significant development in this tragic case that has gripped the city for months.
The charges have been framed under two critical sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita:
- Section 106: Pertaining to causing death by negligence
- Section 238: Relating to causing disappearance of evidence or providing false information to screen offenders

The police investigation was thorough and multi-faceted, examining numerous aspects of the case. Investigators conducted a detailed crime scene analysis, reviewed extensive CCTV footage from the school premises, and received crucial forensic reports from the Forensic Science Laboratory. Officials emphasized that their investigation carefully scrutinized the supervision arrangements in place at the time of the incident, the adequacy of safety measures, and the actions taken by school authorities immediately following the tragic event on November 1.

Parallel to the police investigation, the Central Board of Secondary Education conducted its own independent inquiry into the matter. The CBSE's findings were damning, revealing what the board described as "gross violations of child safety norms" and statutory requirements.
In December last year, following their inquiry, the CBSE took the unprecedented step of ordering the immediate withdrawal of the school's affiliation up to the senior secondary level. The board's statement highlighted that the school's response to the incident demonstrated a "complete failure of the counselling mechanism and grievance redressal system" mandated under its affiliation bylaws.
Police investigators reviewed the CBSE report as part of their comprehensive examination of the case, finding it consistent with their own conclusions about institutional failures.
