Jaipur Police busts fake currency racket, arrests 3

In a significant crackdown, the Jaipur Police Crime Branch on Thursday successfully dismantled an interstate fake currency network, leading to the arrest of three individuals. The operation resulted in the recovery of counterfeit notes with a face value of Rs 6.51 lakh.

Operation Details and Key Arrests

The police action was carried out in the area under the Chitrakoot police station following extensive intelligence work. Special Commissioner of Police Rahul Prakash stated that a dedicated team from the CST unit executed the operation based on sustained surveillance and gathered intelligence.

The alleged mastermind behind the racket, Gaurav Pudir, was apprehended from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Pudir is accused of being involved in the manufacturing of the counterfeit currency. The police also confiscated printing equipment from the location, suggesting the network's activities went beyond mere circulation to include the actual production of fake notes.

Wide-Ranging Network Uncovered

The other two accused arrested in connection with this interstate fake currency racket have been identified as Govind Chaudhary (25), a resident of Jhalawar district, and Devesh Phanda (40), who hails from Jaipur itself. Authorities confirmed that all three were integral parts of a broader interstate network involved in the production and distribution of fake Indian currency notes.

Implications of the Bust

The seizure of printing machinery marks a crucial development, indicating the police have potentially disrupted a source of counterfeit note production. This bust by the Jaipur Crime Branch highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat financial crimes and protect the integrity of the nation's currency. The investigation into the full extent of this interstate fake currency network is ongoing.
