A paying guest (PG) accommodation operator in Jaipur's Mansarovar area filed an FIR on Thursday regarding an extortion call demanding Rs 1 lakh every month. The caller identified himself as 'Vikram Laden', police said. Authorities have registered the FIR and launched a search for the accused.
Details of the Incident
According to officials, the complainant is a 29-year-old resident of Mansarovar who runs a PG business in the area. In his complaint lodged at the Shipra Path police station, the victim alleged that the caller threatened to kill him if the money was not paid. The FIR states that the caller said: 'I am Vikram Laden speaking. You know me very well. You are earning a lot by running PGs in Jaipur. You will pay me Rs 1 lakh every month as extortion money.' The caller further threatened to assault and kill the victim if he failed to comply.
Timeline of Events
Police reported that the incident occurred around 8:30 pm on May 12 when the PG operator had gone for a walk near City Park with a friend. Officials said the friend first received a call on his mobile phone, after which the caller asked to speak directly to the PG operator. The friend handed over the phone, and the threat was made.
Investigation Underway
Police teams are now investigating the case and attempting to trace the accused, identified by officials as habitual offender Vikram Laden. Authorities are reviewing call records and other evidence to apprehend the suspect. The PG operator has been assured of full protection and a thorough probe.
