Jaipur IT Firm Owners Kidnapped in Cryptocurrency Deal Ruse, Freed After 11-Hour Nightmare
In a shocking incident that unfolded in Jaipur, two owners of an Information Technology company were allegedly kidnapped by a group of masked men on Thursday evening. The victims, residents of Jagatpura who operate an IT firm near Mansarovar, endured an 11-hour ordeal before being released early Friday morning. The kidnappers had demanded a hefty ransom of Rs 1 crore, but fled without collecting the money as police pressure intensified.
Details of the Abduction and Ransom Demand
According to police reports, the two businessmen received a phone call around 6 PM on Thursday. The caller lured them out under the pretext of discussing an investment deal involving USDT, a popular cryptocurrency. Trusting the offer, the duo proceeded to a location near the ISKCON Temple in Jagatpura, arriving approximately at 7 PM.
It was at this spot that the accused allegedly abducted them, forcing the victims into a car. The kidnappers then used the victims' own mobile phones to contact their families, demanding the Rs 1 crore ransom. They instructed the families to bring the money to Goner, a directive that immediately raised alarms.
Police Response and Intensive Manhunt
The families promptly alerted the Jaipur Police control room, triggering a swift and coordinated response. Multiple police teams were deployed to track the suspects and secure the victims' safe release. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Rajarshi Raj Varma provided crucial insights, noting that the accused were known to the victims, and the case appears to stem from a financial dispute.
Investigators revealed that the kidnappers kept moving across various outskirts of Jaipur in a deliberate attempt to evade capture. Their route was extensive and included several locations:
- Goner
- Hingonia Gaushala
- Indira Gandhi Nagar
- Kho Nagoriyan
- Kanota
- Bassi
Eventually, the suspects moved towards the forested areas of Nayla and Jamdoli, seeking cover as police closed in.
Release and Aftermath of the Incident
As police pressure mounted throughout the night, the kidnappers' resolve weakened. Fearing imminent arrest, they allegedly abandoned the two businessmen along with the vehicle in the Galta forest area around 5:30 AM on Friday. The victims were left unharmed but undoubtedly traumatized by the experience.
Police swiftly seized the car from the scene, and a forensic team conducted a thorough examination of the vehicle and the surrounding area to gather evidence. This meticulous investigation aims to identify and apprehend the suspects, who remain at large.
The case highlights the risks associated with financial disputes and the increasing use of digital currencies like USDT in potentially fraudulent schemes. Authorities are urging the public to exercise caution when engaging in such transactions and to report any suspicious activities immediately.
