Two Men Killed in Jaipur Hit-and-Run, SUV Driver Flees Scene
In a tragic late-night incident, two men lost their lives after a speeding SUV rammed into their scooter at Kanta Chowraha in Jhotwara, Jaipur. The accident occurred around 11:50 PM on Monday, with the SUV driver fleeing the scene immediately after the collision, leaving the victims critically injured on the road.
Victims Identified as Student and Pharmacy Worker
The victims have been identified as 23-year-old Mohit, a native of Neemkathana in Sikar, and 40-year-old Virendra, a resident of Kumher in Bharatpur. Mohit was a student, while Virendra worked at a pharmacy. Both were residing in the city's Panchyawala Sirsi Road area at the time of the incident.
Police Launch City-Wide Alert and Investigation
Police authorities have sounded a city-wide alert and are making all efforts to identify and arrest the fleeing SUV driver. According to initial reports, the two victims had ventured out for food when the speeding SUV hit their scooter from behind, flinging both of them onto the road.
CCTV footage recovered from the accident scene clearly shows the SUV rear-ending the two-wheeler and speeding away without stopping to offer assistance. Passersby rushed to aid the men before personnel from the Traffic Accident Investigation Unit arrived and shifted them to a hospital in critical condition. Tragically, both succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
FIR Registered and Investigation Underway
An FIR has been registered in connection with the hit-and-run case, and separate police teams are working diligently to trace the SUV and identify its driver. Authorities are scanning footage from nearby routes to track the vehicle's movement before and after the incident.
The bodies of both victims were released to their families after post-mortem examinations were completed. The police investigation continues as they pursue leads to bring the responsible driver to justice.
