Jaipur Hit-and-Run: Police Nab Seven for Aiding Accused Driver

Jaipur police made significant progress in a tragic hit-and-run case on Monday. They arrested seven individuals connected to the incident that occurred three days earlier. A luxury car, driven recklessly, crashed into roadside food stalls at Kharbas Circle in Mansarovar. The accident claimed one life and left fifteen people injured.

Arrests Made for Harboring and Aiding Escape

Authorities detailed the charges against those arrested. Five people face accusations of criminal harboring. They knowingly assisted the main suspect after the accident. The remaining two individuals face other related charges. Police identified the five harboring suspects as Ashok Meena, Sumeet Kumar, Bhagchand, Shivraj, and Nitin.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Rajashri Raj Verma provided crucial details. He stated that all five were fully aware Rinwa had caused the fatal accident. Despite this knowledge, they actively helped him escape the scene. Some arranged a vehicle for his immediate getaway. Others provided shelter at a safe location away from Jaipur.

Verma revealed more during the investigation. The arrested individuals advised Rinwa to stay away from the city. They suggested he should only return once the situation cooled down. Police are now examining if Rinwa received any financial support to evade capture.

Intensive Investigation and Ongoing Manhunt

Police launched an intensive probe immediately after the Friday night incident. The investigation falls under the jurisdiction of the Patrakar Colony police station. Officers analyzed CCTV footage from the area around Kharbas Circle. They also employed technical surveillance through call detail records. Additionally, police activated their informer networks to gather intelligence.

Several suspects were detained for questioning during the initial stages. Through this meticulous work, police established key facts. They confirmed that Dinesh Rinwa was driving the luxury car at the time of the accident. Rinwa remains at large and is the main accused in this case.

Police also identified Rinwa's companions in the vehicle. Mukesh Kumar, a constable posted at Rajasthan Police Lines, was present. Two others named Pappu and Ramchandra were also in the car. Authorities arrested Constable Mukesh Kumar and Pappu. They face charges of acting with common intent to commit the crime.

Ramchandra, like Rinwa, is currently absconding. Police expressed confidence about their imminent arrests. They stated they have credible information about the whereabouts of both fugitives. The investigation continues as officers pursue all leads to bring them to justice.

Sequence of Events After the Accident

The sequence of events became clearer through police statements. Rinwa contacted his associates soon after the fatal collision. The five individuals later arrested for harboring then reached the accident spot. They facilitated Rinwa's escape from the scene, setting off the chain of events that led to Monday's arrests.

This case highlights the serious consequences of rash driving and attempts to evade law. The community awaits further developments as police work to apprehend the remaining suspects.
