Auto Driver Brutally Murdered at Jabalpur's ISBT Square, Neck Nearly Severed
Jabalpur: Auto driver murdered at ISBT Square, police probe

A shocking murder at a busy transport hub has sent waves of panic through Jabalpur. A 25-year-old auto-rickshaw driver was brutally killed at ISBT Square on Sunday evening in a brazen attack captured on camera.

Gruesome Attack in a Crowded Area

The victim, identified as Pawan, a resident of Rajiv Nagar, was standing near ISBT Square around 5:30 pm, waiting for passengers. According to police, an unidentified young man approached him and initiated a conversation. What began as a talk quickly escalated into a heated argument.

In a sudden and violent turn, the assailant pulled out a sharp-edged weapon and slashed Pawan's throat. The attack was so ferocious that it nearly severed the victim's neck. Pawan collapsed on the road, bleeding profusely from the critical injury.

Police Response and Investigation

On receiving information, police teams rushed to the spot and immediately shifted the grievously injured man to the medical college hospital. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

City Superintendent of Police (Madhotal) BS Gadhoria confirmed that the entire incident was recorded by CCTV cameras installed in the area. "We have secured the CCTV footage and are analysing it to identify and trace the accused," Gadhoria stated.

Preliminary information suggests the victim and the attacker knew each other and were once friends. Investigators believe they fell out over an unresolved dispute, and the murder appears to be a result of personal enmity, though the exact motive is still being ascertained. Sources indicate the accused is believed to be from the same locality as Pawan.

Manhunt Launched, Public Safety Concerns

The police have registered a murder case and constituted five special teams to track down the suspect. Raids are being conducted at multiple locations as part of the manhunt. Efforts are also on to piece together the accused's movements before and after the crime.

The fact that the killing was carried out at a crowded intersection during evening hours has raised serious concerns about public safety in the city. The brazen nature of the attack in a busy hub has left locals and commuters alarmed.

The investigation remains active as police scour the CCTV footage and follow all leads to apprehend the fleeing attacker.
