In a significant breakthrough, the Mangaluru police have arrested an inter-state thief and recovered melted gold ornaments valued at approximately ₹15 lakh. The accused, identified as 32-year-old Ravi Kumar, was apprehended from a hideout in the city following a tip-off.
Modus Operandi
Kumar allegedly targeted homes in Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, stealing gold jewelry. To avoid detection, he melted the stolen ornaments into small ingots. The police recovered 200 grams of melted gold from his possession.
Investigation Details
Senior police officer M. N. Anil Kumar stated that the accused confessed to committing over 10 burglaries in the past year. The police are verifying his claims and linking him to other unsolved cases. The recovered gold will be handed over to the rightful owners after legal formalities.
The arrest was made by a special team led by Inspector Ramesh B. The police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
