Indore Wedding Ceremony Turns Violent as Youths Storm Mandap, Assault Guests
A peaceful wedding celebration in Indore descended into chaos and violence in the early hours of Wednesday when a group of youths forcibly entered the mandap and launched a brutal assault on guests. The shocking incident, which occurred around 2 am, left six individuals injured and sent panic through the venue in Machla village under the Tejaji Nagar police station limits.
Late-Night Disruption Escalates into Physical Attack
According to police reports, the wedding rituals for a woman were underway, with preparations for the pheras in progress, when the group of youths entered the venue. Initially, they were engaged in a fight among themselves, which disrupted the solemn ceremony. When family members intervened and politely asked them to leave the premises, the situation rapidly deteriorated.
The accused individuals allegedly began hurling abuses and soon turned aggressively physical. They attacked those present with sticks and their fists, creating a scene of terror in the middle of the wedding celebrations. The assault unfolded quickly, causing widespread panic as guests scrambled for safety.
Police Action and Case Registration
Tejaji Nagar police station in-charge Devendra Markam confirmed that a formal case has been registered against the primary accused: Sahil Kotiya, Monu Mithoriya, Aman Kotiya, and their associates. The charges include sections related to assault and vandalism. Police have detained some suspects and are actively questioning them as part of the ongoing investigation.
Family members present at the wedding told authorities that the accused grew hostile when confronted and launched the attack without any provocation. Although people at the venue managed to intervene and prevent further escalation of violence, the accused fled the spot after issuing threats.
Injured Victims and Medical Treatment
The six persons injured in the attack have been identified as Jagram Banjara (50), his relative Laxman Banjara (70), Gangabai, Jagdish, Kalabai, and Purkiya alias Prem. All victims were promptly taken to a local hospital for a thorough medical examination. They received primary treatment and were subsequently discharged, though the psychological impact of the incident remains a concern.
This violent disruption of a sacred ceremony highlights growing concerns about public safety during social events. The police are intensifying efforts to apprehend all involved individuals and ensure such incidents do not recur, emphasizing the need for community vigilance and prompt reporting of suspicious activities.
