Major Fire Erupts at Scrap Warehouse in Indore's Narwal Area
A significant fire broke out at a scrap warehouse located in the Narwal area on Sanwer Road in Indore on Sunday morning, causing widespread panic among local residents. Thick, black smoke rapidly engulfed the surrounding neighborhood, creating a hazardous atmosphere and triggering immediate emergency response efforts.
Firefighting Operations and Emergency Response
The blaze was reported around 11 am, prompting the immediate dispatch of three fire tenders to the scene. Firefighting operations were launched without delay as officials worked to contain the rapidly spreading flames. The presence of substantial amounts of plastic scrap within the warehouse significantly intensified the fire, leading to dense smoke that spread across nearby residential areas.
This dangerous situation raised serious concerns as laborer quarters located in close proximity to the warehouse were directly threatened by the advancing flames. Residents of these quarters took precautionary measures by moving their belongings to safer locations to prevent potential loss of property.
Challenges and Containment Efforts
Fire teams implemented a strategic approach by working from multiple sides, including the direction of the residential quarters, to prevent further spread of the fire. Approximately ten water tankers were deployed in the operation to control the blaze, demonstrating the scale of the emergency response required to manage the situation.
During the incident, two to three women experienced breathing discomfort due to the heavy smoke inhalation. Fortunately, their condition stabilized after receiving appropriate attention, and no serious injuries were reported among residents or emergency responders.
Investigation and Aftermath
Fire Brigade Sub-Inspector Shivnarayan Sharma confirmed that the warehouse belongs to Mohammad Irfan and that all workers who typically stay at the facility were safely evacuated before the situation escalated. The godown was reportedly locked at the time the fire broke out, adding complexity to the initial response efforts.
Officials have confirmed that the fire has been successfully brought under control through the coordinated efforts of firefighting teams. However, the exact cause of the blaze remains undetermined at this time, with investigations ongoing to ascertain what triggered the destructive incident that disrupted the peaceful Sunday morning in Indore's Narwal locality.
