The Crime Branch of Indore police has made a significant breakthrough in a major narcotics case, arresting another absconding accused on Saturday. This arrest is directly connected to a previous seizure where authorities confiscated approximately 2.475 kg of ganja from two individuals on July 26 this year.
Cyber Surveillance Leads to Arrest
During the ongoing investigation, the involvement of Sarfaraz alias Banda Mansuri came to light. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Dandotiya stated that acting on specific intelligence inputs and through meticulous cyber surveillance, the police team successfully tracked down and apprehended the accused.
Accused's Modus Operandi and Criminal Past
Upon interrogation, Sarfaraz revealed his role in the drug trade. He confessed to purchasing cannabis at relatively cheaper rates and then supplying it to various drug peddlers within Indore city at a significantly higher price, thereby making illicit profits.
The police verification further confirmed that the arrested individual has a prior criminal record. A case is already registered against him in the neighbouring Dhar district, highlighting his involvement in unlawful activities.
Legal Action Under NDPS Act
Following his arrest, the Indore Crime Branch has registered a formal case against Sarfaraz Mansuri under the stringent provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. This arrest marks a crucial step in dismantling the local drug supply chain and underscores the police's continued crackdown on narcotics operations in the region.
