Indore Police Crack Down on Narcotics, Arrest Two in Major Brown Sugar Bust
In a significant development in the ongoing campaign against illegal narcotics in Indore, the Heera Nagar police have made a crucial arrest, apprehending two individuals allegedly involved in brown sugar trafficking. The operation, which unfolded on Friday night, led to the recovery of 13.30 grams of brown sugar, with an estimated street value of approximately Rs 2 lakh, from the possession of the accused.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Heera Nagar, Rubina Mizwani, a police team was actively patrolling and conducting checks on suspicious persons along MR-10 Road when they spotted two men standing near a motorcycle. Upon noticing the police vehicle, the duo attempted to flee the scene, triggering a brief but intense pursuit. The officers gave chase and successfully apprehended both individuals after a swift operation.
During subsequent questioning, the arrested men were identified as Rohan Kadam, aged 24, a resident of Bhagya Laxmi Colony, and Gopal, also known as Deepak Ahirwar, aged 23, who hails from Heera Nagar Main Road. A thorough search of their belongings resulted in the discovery of a packet containing the illicit substance, which was immediately seized by the authorities.
Accused Motivated by Addiction and Quick Profits
Police investigations revealed that the accused were engaged in a cycle of purchasing brown sugar at lower rates and selling it at inflated prices. This illicit trade was primarily driven by their need to fund their own addiction while also seeking to earn quick money. Both individuals have prior criminal records, indicating a history of involvement in unlawful activities.
In response to the arrest, a formal case has been registered against Rohan Kadam and Gopal Ahirwar under the stringent provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. This legal action underscores the police's commitment to tackling drug-related crimes in the region.
