After the incident, the accused left his room around 8 pm and later sent a disturbing message from the victim's phone to her sister, indicating that she would not return home. Alarmed by this message, the family contacted her friends and acquaintances but were unable to locate her.
Investigators discovered that Piyush had shared multiple objectionable videos involving the victim on a college group. These videos were later uploaded to the victim's WhatsApp status and circulated to contacts saved in her phone, causing panic among relatives and acquaintances.

Neighbors alerted the police after noticing that the room remained locked for an extended period. On February 13, police entered the room by opening the lock and found the student's body lying on the bed.
