Hyderabad Police Launch Special Investigation After Multiple Chain Snatchings

Hyderabad police have formed special teams to investigate four separate chain-snatching incidents that occurred in the city's suburbs on Saturday morning. The coordinated response comes after multiple complaints were filed within a short timeframe, raising concerns about public safety in residential areas.

Four Separate Incidents Target Women in Suburban Areas

The first reported incident took place around 10:21 am under the Chaitanyapuri police station limits. A 40-year-old woman named Adilakshmi was returning home from a nearby temple when two unidentified men on a motorcycle targeted her on Road No. 2 in RK Puram Colony. The assailants snatched her 1.5-tola gold chain and quickly fled the scene before anyone could intervene.

Just ten minutes later, police received another complaint within the same jurisdiction. At approximately 10:31 am, 72-year-old Padma faced an attempted chain snatching near the New Maruthi Nagar community hall. The elderly woman managed to raise an alarm, causing the attackers to abandon their attempt and escape without taking her jewelry.

Additional Cases Reported Across Multiple Police Stations

Another incident occurred earlier in the morning under the Hayathnagar police station limits. Around 9:00 am, 40-year-old Chintakuntla Vijaya was walking home from a temple with a neighbor in Anjanadri Nagar when two unknown persons on a bike snatched her gold chain. The stolen jewelry weighed approximately three tolas, making it a significant loss for the victim.

The fourth case was registered at the Nagole police station after 58-year-old Maragoni Manemma filed a complaint. She reported that around 10:07 am, while walking to her son's residence in Rajyalakshmi Colony, two men on a motorcycle snatched her mangalsutra. The traditional wedding necklace weighed about 2.5 tolas. Witnesses reported the suspects fleeing toward Nagole main road after the theft.

Police Response and Investigation Details

Police officials have established multiple special teams comprising personnel from Nagole, LB Nagar, and Chaitanyapuri police stations. These teams are working collaboratively to trace and apprehend the suspects responsible for the morning's crimes.

Investigators are currently examining CCTV footage from various locations near the crime scenes. They are also coordinating across different police jurisdictions to identify patterns and potential suspects. The similarity in modus operandi across all four incidents suggests possible connections between the cases.

Police have issued specific safety advisories for residents, particularly emphasizing caution during early morning hours. Authorities recommend that people remain vigilant until the offenders are apprehended. They suggest avoiding isolated areas when carrying valuable jewelry and being aware of surroundings when traveling alone.

The incidents have highlighted security concerns in Hyderabad's suburban neighborhoods, where such crimes have seen periodic spikes. Police officials assure residents that they are treating these cases with high priority and expect breakthroughs in the investigation soon.
