Chaos erupted at Mugaluru lakebed in Sarjapur, Bengaluru Rural, on Saturday morning after residents discovered a human skull and several bones scattered nearby. The gruesome find prompted an immediate response from local police and a team of scene of crime officers (SOCO), who examined the remains and transported them to the forensic science laboratory for further analysis.
Details of the Discovery
In addition to the skull, law enforcement officials recovered a jawbone, upper limb bones, a torn sari, and women's footwear from the site. According to a senior police officer, the jaw was separated from the skull, and the front five teeth were missing. These missing teeth are considered crucial for identifying the deceased. Authorities suspect the remains belong to a woman aged between 25 and 35 years.
Investigation Underway
Police are currently collecting details of missing women within this age group from Karnataka, as well as from neighboring states Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The officer emphasized the importance of dental records in establishing the identity of the victim. The forensic laboratory will conduct further tests, including DNA analysis, to aid in the identification process.
Residents in the area have been urged to report any suspicious activity or missing persons to the police. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are exploring all possible leads to unravel the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
