Wall Collapse at Under-Construction Hotel in Amer Kills Three, Injures Five
A tragic accident occurred in Amer, Rajasthan, on Tuesday when a wall of an under-construction hotel collapsed, resulting in the deaths of three workers and injuries to five others. The incident took place near the Amer Fort area, a popular tourist destination.
According to local authorities, the wall gave way suddenly during the afternoon, trapping several workers under the debris. Rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the site, including personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and local police.
Rescue Operation and Casualties
Rescue operations continued for several hours as workers dug through the rubble to free those trapped. Three bodies were recovered, while five injured workers were rushed to a nearby hospital. The injured are reported to be in stable condition, according to hospital sources.
District officials confirmed that the building was under construction and that an investigation has been ordered into the cause of the collapse. Preliminary reports suggest that the wall may have been unstable due to recent rains.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and announced compensation of ₹5 lakh each for the kin of the dead and ₹1 lakh for the injured. He also directed officials to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured workers.
Legal Action and Safety Concerns
Local police have filed a case against the hotel owner and the construction contractor for negligence. Authorities are examining whether proper safety protocols were followed at the site.
The incident has raised concerns about construction safety in the region, especially during the monsoon season. Similar accidents have occurred in the past, prompting calls for stricter enforcement of building regulations.
The hotel, which was being built to cater to tourists visiting Amer Fort, has been sealed pending further investigation. The site remains cordoned off as rescue teams complete their search for any remaining victims.
