The entire stolen consignment was recovered within just 24 hours, showcasing the police's prompt response and investigative prowess.
Details of the Arrest and Recovery
The accused has been identified as Satpal, a resident of Arniyawali village in Sirsa district. According to Assistant Superintendent of Police Mayank Mudgil, the case unfolded when an FIR was registered at the Agroha police station on Thursday. The complaint was filed by Ravindra, a resident of Agroha, who operates a silver jewellery shop in Fatehabad.
As per the complaint, on the night of March 18, around 11 pm, Rajesh Sharma, a resident of Mathura, was traveling on a private bus operated by Vijay Travels. He was carrying a significant amount of silver—39 kg 844 grams—in his bag. The journey took a turn when, on the morning of March 19 at approximately 6 am, Rajesh Sharma reached Agroha and discovered that his bag had been stolen during the trip.
Investigation and Breakthrough
Rajesh Sharma immediately dialed 112 to alert the police, leading to a joint investigation by the Hisar Police Special Staff and Agroha police station. During initial questioning, Rajesh Sharma expressed suspicion towards the bus driver, which provided a crucial lead for the authorities.
Acting swiftly on this information, the police tracked the accused using his mobile number and apprehended him from the Hisar bus stand. During interrogation, Satpal confessed to the crime, revealing that he had been working as a private bus driver for the past two to three months. He admitted to noticing Rajesh Sharma's frequent travels with silver and had planned the theft in advance.
Execution of the Theft and Recovery
The theft occurred on March 19 when the bus stopped at a petrol pump, and Rajesh Sharma got down to use the restroom. Seizing the opportunity, Satpal stole the bag containing the silver and hid it in bushes on the opposite side of the road. Based on his disclosure, the police later recovered the entire stolen silver, ensuring no loss to the victim.
Further investigation into the case is currently underway to uncover any additional details or potential accomplices. This incident highlights the importance of vigilance during travel and the effectiveness of police action in tackling such crimes.
